Next week is Dementia Action Week (13 to 19 May). This is one of Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship campaigns and this year they are focusing on encouraging anyone worried about their memory to visit their GP. With an early diagnosis, there may be dugs to slow the condition down and there is time to plan for the future and access vital support services.

One in three people with dementia do not have a diagnosis.

Dementia Friendly Sefton along with Alzheimer’s Society Sefton has organised three Dementia Information Hubs at the following venues.

Dementia Advisers will be there to give information and support, along with colleagues from Sefton Council, Sefton Carers’ Centre and the Memory Clinic, enabling you to meet a range of professionals and get things sorted all in one place.

In addition, we will be running some free Dementia Friends sessions, each lasting about an hour, to provide basic dementia awareness and understanding about this condition. Sessions will take place at each venue at 11am and 2pm.

The poster has all the details and links to book on to the Dementia Friends sessions. It is advisable that you book for these in advance as places are limited and are likely to go very quickly.

No need to book to attend the Dementia Hubs themselves, just come along to whichever venue is most convenient for you on the day.
