The longest serving and most senior Labour MP in this part of Lancashire has left the Labour Party.


After 55 years in Labour, Dame Louise Elleman, Liverpool Riverside MP and former leader of Lancashire County Council, has become a leading member of 'Mainstream', the all-party and non-party campaign against extremism in the UK. In doing so, she has joined her fellow former Liverpool MP Luciana Berger in ditching the Labour Party over anti-semitism, bullying and extremism. Ms Berger has joined the Liberal Democrats.


Dame Louise has backed a report into the extent antisemitism continues among present Labour parliamentary candidates.


She says: "A number of Labour parliamentary candidates have now been exposed for their hurtful remarks against Jewish people, or for spreading vile conspiracy theories. Jewish members like me have been driven out."

"If the party is to regain any credibility as an anti-racist party it must immediately suspend all candidates who have breached IHRA guidelines. That is the least it can do to recognise the depths to which it has plunged.”

'Mainstream' is also concerned about extremism in the Conservative Party.however, as Ms Elleman has made clear, the new movement feels that no government headed up by Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party could be trusted.

Antisemitism is going to prove to be Corbyn's nemesis.

Labour have a history of voting for leaders who don't demonstrate leadership qualities, or who are far too radical for middle-of-the-road voters, and recently it seems to have been Momentum who have shaped things.

They chose the wrong Miliband brother, and years before that there was the disaster of Michael Foot.

As a lifelong Labour voter, as soon as Corbyn got the job I felt that things wouldn't work out, and it seems to be going that way now.

The best Labour can hope for in the Election is to be the largest party and even that is starting to look highly unlikely. If that turns out to be the case then Labour supporters won't need to look any further than at Jeremy Corbyn when it comes to apportioning blame. I go back to the 70's with General Elections and have voted Labour more than once in that time, but I wouldn't touch this fella with a bargepole. To call him toxic is an understatement. I've never come across anybody less suited to the role to which he aspires. He's nothing more than a student protester in a 70 year old man's body. How anybody thinks he is Prime Minister material is a complete and utter mystery.

I couldn't agree more, especially the 'student protester' bit. He was always a sniper from behind the barricades, not a leader. I believe that during the Blair/Brown days, Corbyn voted against his own party more times than any other Labour MP.

Now, thanks to John Lansman, who seems to be every bit as devious as Cummings, Momentum has hijacked the Labour party. Their idea of government seems to be based on those of the French student movements of the 1960s - totally divorced from reality. It reminds me of the Derek Hatton days.

What's sad for me is that I agree with a lot of Labour's proposals, but I can't see them getting the votes because of Corbyn. It's ironic that a lot of Labour voters will be driven to the 'yellow tory' Lib Dems or, even worse, the Liar of Downing Street when they would much prefer to vote Labour if they had a credible leader.

Labour has killed itself with its leader its policies and especially not respecting the leave vote.

If remain is so popular as some would have us believe why aren't the Vote thieves doing better and why did the man from the pub romp home in the euro elections.?


There is though chance for the get Boris campaign to strike again so if I were Labour I would stop spinning lies about the NHS and get on with campaigning more honestly with Jeremy having a rest.
